The preliminary findings of the survey said average Vietnamese salaries in 2008 have risen a dramatic 19.5 percent compared to 9 percent and 12.6 percent in 2006 and 2007 respectively.
The local economy is generally thought to have been much healthier in 2006 and 2007 than it is now.
Navigos’ findings were based on the analysis of data from April 2007 to March 2008, the company said.
More than 180 foreign-invested and local companies with a collective sample size of 30,000 employees spanning 15 major industries participated in the survey.
Large companies from the manufacturing, finance, information technology, pharmaceutical and chemical sectors were included in the data analysis.
The preliminary findings showed that salaries at many companies had fluctuated alongside inflation, according to Navigos.
Navigos Project Manager Lia Abella said the final salary report, which covers 75 job categories, will reveal more critical and specific findings, including gross salaries, net salaries, bonuses and allowances.
The final Vietnam Salary Survey 2008 will be released in late September, before annual salary reviews and adjustments occur.
Navigos Group will hold the “How Competitive is Your Compensation Strategy?” seminar, which will include analyses of the survey, on September 23 in Ho Chi Minh City and September 25 in Hanoi.
