The report found some businesses put profit before workers safety. Some have not fulfilled their responsibilities to pay salaries, bonuses and social insurance for their workers and some provide substandard working conditions and meals, causing an increase in labor strikes.
At present, 53 enterprises haven’t paid the social insurance of VND45 billion (US$2.65 million).
The report also found many businesses run two sets of books. The “official” set of salary accounts uses the minimum wage so the company can minimize its social insurance and tax bills.
