Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir to croon for charity in HCMC
The Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir performs onstage.
A charity dinner gala titled “Songs for hearts” featuring the Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir will be held at 6 p.m. on September 13 at Ho Chi Minh City’s Caravelle Hotel.

Forty-five members of the choir will perform popular Welsh folk songs, accompanied by the Caravelle Hotel’s band and two famous local groups – Nam Dong Ke (Five musical lines) and Mat Troi Moi (New sun).

A raffle will also be held as part of the evening program.

The Hong Kong Welsh Male Voice Choir was founded in 1978 and currently comprises 70 amateur members who are Welsh expatriates living in Hong Kong and local Chinese.

The choir regularly travels at their own expense to many places to perform for charity.

In 2003, their efforts raised US$27,000 for Operation Smile Vietnam, an organization established to provide surgery for children born with cleft lip and palate deformities.

All money raised from the event will be donated to the East Meets West Foundation to support heart operations for children.

Tickets are priced at VND1.2 million (US$75).

The Caravelle Hotel is located at 19 Lam Son Square in District 1.
