Over 17,000 Hanoians living with HIV/AIDS
Some 12,414 HIV patients and 4,786 AIDS patients are living in Hanoi, the capital’s Health Department Director Le Anh Tuan has said.

Drug-related cases accounted for more than 70 percent of the reported patients, he said.

Nearly 90 percent of the 17,200 people infected with HIV/AIDS are between 20 and 39 years old.

Tuan said 1,860 of the cases were recorded during the first nine months of this year.

Statistics showed that 417 out of 576 communes and wards of the city are home to at least one person living with HIV/AIDS, he said.
