Thanh Nien journalist wins national journalism award
Thanh Nien’s veteran journalist Hoang Hai Van will be honored at the National Journalism Awards 2007 for his series of articles on emission standards published in mid-June 2007.

The Council for National Journalism notified Thanh Nien of Prize B, the second prize award, and is expected to present the prize on June 21 for Vietnam Journalism Day.

Van’s articles presented expert rebuttal to the government’s policy of applying Euro II emission standards on all new vehicles.

According to his articles, at the time other nations had already applied Euro IV and V emission standards.

As such, the articles said applying the lower emission standards meant the country accepted an atmosphere dirtier than other countries in the region.
