Leaders urge citizens to emulate Uncle Ho on National Day
The nation’s leaders Monday called on people to follow the example set by Uncle Ho to strengthen their unity and self-reliance.

The appeal was made at a solemn meeting held Monday in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 63rd anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2).

Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh, State President Nguyen Minh Triet, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan

Dung and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Huynh Dam were among the prominent leaders at the meeting in the capital city.

Chairman of the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen The Thao, said that this year’s National Day was especially significant to the city’s party unit, government and people as the capital was officially expended early last month.

Thao called for renewed efforts to beautify the capital city and boost economic development.

At the meeting held in HCMC, Pham Phuong Thao, vice chairwoman of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council, urged the local government to take economic development measures in conjunction with effective resolution of urgent social issues including prevention of corruption and waste.

More than a thousand delegates attended the meeting organized by the municipal Party Committee, Peoples’ Council, People’s Committee and Fatherland Front Committee.
