The provincial Fire Department, together with 50 workers of the Dung Quat Oil Refinery and various locals, joined forces to combat the blaze after residents in Binh Son District’s Binh Tri Commune informed authorities of the fire at 10 a.m.
Fire fighters finally brought the blaze under control at 3 p.m.
The fire was caused by some thieves who had burnt stolen cable wires in the forest to smelt copper for resale, according to Le Thanh, an official of the district’s Forest Management Bureau.
