The journalist, Hoang Nam, made a written report to relevant agencies stating two men had threatened him and his family if he didn’t run a correction in the paper, police said.
He said the two men were representing an unidentified party who claimed Nam had defamed them and issued the death threat under the “law of the jungle” if he did not comply with their demand.
Two days later, they called Nam again and threatened to kill him a second time because he had not made the correction, he said.
