Students from 25 universities and colleges will compete at the Ho Chi Minh City Student Volleyball Tournament, Sting Cup 2008, starting November 23.

The fifth annual tournament has attracted 25 male teams and 14 female teams from HCMC, Tay Ninh, Can Tho, Binh Duong and Dong Thap provinces.

The qualifying rounds will take place from November 23-26 at Phan Dinh Phung Sports Complex, HCMC University of Education and HCMC Nong Lam University,

while the elimination rounds will be held at Phan Dinh Phung Sports Complex from November 26-November 31.

“The tournament, which has attracted more teams this year than ever, is expected to achieve higher quality as well as promote university sports,” said Nguyen Huynh Diep, general secretary of HCMC Volleyball Federation.

Sponsored by the HCMC Volleyball Federation, the VND41 million (US$2,400) student tournament is also organized to celebrate Vietnamese Teacher’s Day on November 20.
