To reach the resort, around 40 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, tourists can go by canoe along the Saigon River or travel by car or motorbike along National Highway Number 13.
On weekends and festive occasions, the resort is packed with tourists seeking an escape from the urban clutter and heat of HCMC.
The landscape is lush and green, with bountiful fruit trees.
A host of exciting activities give visitors a taste of life in the southern region, such as bailing out ditches to catch fish, riding in horse-drawn carriages along dirt roads or watching cock-fights.
They can also catch crocodiles and visit fish rafts, a bird sanctuary and an orchid garden.
The resort also offers a chance to sample a wide range of delectable cuisine, sip aromatic tea with honey and enjoy fruit from the orchards.
The highlights of the stay are the traditional craft villages where Din Ky’s ruou nep (sticky rice wine), Ben Tre’s keo dua (coconut candy), Phu An’s banh trang (griddle cake) and Binh Nham’s mut gung (ginger jam) are made.
Visitors also see how craftsmen from different regions make the specialties.
They will also be mesmerized by performances of don ca tai tu, the traditional improvisational chamber music of southern Vietnam.
The two-star resort boasts almost 90 rooms which range from VND240,000-420,000 (US$14.50-25) per night.
Tourists can indulge in stress-busting activities such as swimming, fishing, canoeing, boating, billiards, badminton and table tennis.
Children’s games include playing ball, painting statuettes and making sand pictures.
The resort, which opened in 1997, recently inaugurated a VND1 billion ($60,100) cruiser.
From the 24-meter 80-ton boat, which can seat up to 100 guests, guests can spot a 70-year-old house built in the typical style of the southern region, another project that Din Ky has just put into use.
